The Soldier, The Athlete, and The Farmer (Part 2)– Ps. George Mosena

LEAD SCRIPTURE: 2 Timothy 2:3-5 (NKJV)You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. 5 And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.
If you are an athlete, you need to compete according to the rules in order to be crowned. Every thing that needs to be done has it’s own set of rules.
We are leaving in a generation that makes up its rules according to how they feel. Young people do no respect elders, children are terrorize their teachers. Everyone wants to live according to their own set of rules.
God has His own set of rules, and those rules should take precedence in your life.
People do not want to be told what to do and they want to do things in their own way. Now, even in church they want to do things their own ways.
In a race, one has to be DISCIPLINED! If you want to win the race, you need to follow the rules and be disciplined. Christians need to be following the rules in the Word of God (The Bible).
Some of the rules that God has put out may sound irrational but God has never sought to disadvantage you, He has put in the rules to ensure that YOU SUCCEED!
Discipline is doing what is unpleasant in order to be victorious.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (AMP) Do you not know that in a race all the runners run [their very best to win], but only one receives the prize? Run [your race] in such a way that you may seize the prize and make it yours! 25 Now every athlete who [goes into training and] competes in the games is disciplined and exercises self-control in all things. They do it to win a crown that withers, but we [do it to receive] an imperishable [crown that cannot wither]. 26 Therefore I do not run without a definite goal; I do not flail around like one beating the air [just shadow boxing]. 27 But [like a boxer] I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached [the gospel] to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified [as unfit for service].
When you compete according to the rules, you are going to receive unmerited favour. When do life according to God’s rules … you will WIN!
